Like the 2007 season, the Milwaukee Brewers finished the 2008 season in 2nd place in the NL Central, but unlike 2007, they made it to the 2008 playoffs as a wild card team, their first trip to the playoffs since 1982. And though they were knocked out in the division series, they can take comfort from the fact that the team that beat them, the Philadelphia Phillies, went on to win the World Series – if you have to be beaten, it may as well be by the best! Early Years

When the Seattle Pilots became the Milwaukee Brewers following the 1969 season they entered a city with an already strong baseball tradition. Home to the Braves from 1953 to 1965, the baseball fans had been treated to watching such all time greats as Hank Aaron, Warren Spahn, and Eddie Mathews. The Brewers did not experience the instant success of the Braves but the fans’ patience paid off in 1981.
