For many decades, the New England Patriots have been one of the most established and followed professional football teams in the NFL. The team first joined the league in 1970 and were added to the NFL as a merger team after playing in the American Football league for ten seasons. Since then the team has been known for being highly successful and for having one of the most dedicated followings of fans in the entire country.

Today the New England Patriots play in the Eastern Division of the National Football Conference and can be seen with their nautical blue, silver, red and white colors designed to represent the colors of American patriots. These colors and the team’s patriot logo featuring Pat Patriot can be seen in person on game day when the team plays at their home field known as Gillette Stadium. The stadium actually resides outside of the greater Boston metropolitan area in a suburb known as Foxborough, Massachusetts. When the team moved to this location in 1971, their name changed from the Boston Patriots to the New England Patriots once they moved away from the city. 

In the 2000s the Patriots became one of the most successful teams in all of NFL history.  Today the team holds the third spot in the country for most Superbowl appearances following only two teams who are tied at the top of the league, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys. Each of these teams have 8 Superbowl appearances with the Patriots having seven. The Patriots actually do hold the record for most Superbowl appearances in the last 25 years.  The team also achieved a huge milestone in 2005 when they became the second team in the history of the NFL to win three Superbowl titles in just four years.

The Patriots also hold the record for most wins in a single decade. With records like this to their name and three league championships, three Superbowl championships, 7 AFC championships, 14 division championships and 19 playoff appearances, there is no denying the success of the New England Patriots. On game days, this past success is evident as fans will see the home Patriots stadium overflowing with passionate and dedicated fans who are looking for the team to continue their streak of greatness and continue to make history within the NFL today.
