Even as we say “Congratulations” to the Detroit Red Wings, winners of the 2008 Stanley Cup, we want to say a big “Thank you” to the Colorado Avalanche for their great performance in the 2007-08 season, finishing 2nd in the ultra-competitive Northwest Division!
The Avalanche have parlayed a string of gutty performances into 95 points and second place in the Northwest Division. Avalanche tickets are always one of the league’s toughest tickets to get, and this postseason will be no exception. 13-time All-Star (and captain) Joe Sakic is the heart of the team, with Paul Stastny and Ian Laperriere adding some muscle. With strong clutch performances in March and April , the Avs enter the playoffs virtually unbeatable at the Pepsi Center. The Avalanche presence looms large in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Colorado Avalanche had a lackluster 2006-07, finishing just below the Calgary Flames in the Northwest Division, but GM Francois Giguere has already been busily filling in the gaps so that the 2007-08 season looks bright. The additions of proven veterans Ryan Smyth and Scott Hannan significantly improved the team and made them real contenders for the playoffs. With the Pepsi Center regularly selling out when the Colorado Avalanche are playing, you’ll want to get your tickets now before you lose your chance to see this exciting and dynamic team in action!
Where will you be while the Colorado Avalanche are taking on their Western Conference rivals and the rest of the NHL? How about in the stands, watching that professional hockey action live? Coast to Coast has the Colorado Avalanche tickets you’re looking for!
The Avalanche started life as the Quebec Nordiques in the World Hockey Association in 1972. The Nordiques were one of four teams allowed to join the NHL when the WHA folded, and the team was very successful. The 1994 lockout caused financial problems for owner Marcel Aubut, and when a provincial bailout failed, he sold the team to a Denver group for the 1995-96 season, in which the Avalanche won their first Stanley Cup.
The Nordiques contributed to NHL lore over the years by adding three significant players to the NHL Hall of Fame: Michel Goulet, Guy Lafleur and Peter Stastny. Ray Bourque, who spent most of his career with the Boston Bruins, ended his Hall-of-Fame career with the Avalanche and contributed to the 2001 Stanley Cup run.
Now that the Avalanche have settled into Denver, you can be sure that the fan base is large enough to make tickets to Avalanche games scarce. Get yours today!
