New owner Dave Checketts made great strides to improve the St. Louis Blues this off-season, and bring the capacity crowds back to the Scottrade Center. And, the Blues got off to a fast start, building excitement in St. Louis. However, despite some great individual seasons – most notably Paul Kariya and Brad Boyes – the Bluenote finished the season with only 79 points, and in the cellar of the Central Division. Although the Blues have missed the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the past three seasons, there is still room for optimism in the Gateway City – rookies Patrik Berglund and T.J. Oshie figure to have an immediate impact. If the Blues can find scoring, they could make a real run at the playoffs next season.

The St. Louis Blues' performance in the 2006-07 season, placing 3rd in the Central Division, was a significant improvement over 2005-06, and changes made in the off season promise that the 2007-08 season will be one to remember. Replacing Radek Dvorak with Paul Kariya is a real step up, and if goalie coach Rick Wamsley can work his magic on Hannu Toivonen, the Blues just might make the playoffs.
