The Edmonton Oilers ended the 2008-09 season with a disappointing 4th place finish in the Northwest Division, but lead by new head coach Pat Quinn, the Oilers expect to turn things around for the 2009-10 season. Associate coach Tom Renney and assistant coach Wayne Fleming were also brought on board. Other than the coaching changes, the offseason was fairly quiet, with goalie Dwayne Roloson and forwards Ales Kotalik and Kyle Brodziak leaving and goalie Nikolai Khabibulin and forward Mike Comrie coming on board. Roloson was good, but Khabibulin is still an upgrade, coming in with international experience and a Stanley Cup win under his belt. The Oilers are really counting on the coaching staff to turn things around this season, but they’ll also need fan support.
