2008 marked a rebuilding year for the Oilers, capped by a 5th place finish in the Northwest Division. The team finished out of NHL playoff contention with 88 points. A bright spot for the team was the insane goaltending of Mathieu Garon, who kept the Oilers competitive in many games this season. Most notably, Garon went 10-0 in the OT shootouts, helping the Oilers achieve an NHL record with 13 shootout wins. Newcomer free agent Dustin Penner and stalwart Ales Hemsky also turned in solid years, which gives the Oilers a great nucleus to build toward the Stanley Cup.
The 2006-07 season wasn’t great to the Edmonton Oilers, who finished in last place in the Northwest Division, but GM Kevin Lowe is determined make the 2007-08 season one to remember. Though he wasn’t able to snag Thomas Vanek, he did get Dustin Penner, Sheldon Souray, Joni Pitkanen, Dick Tarnstrom, and Mathieu Garon, in an attempt to improve every aspect of the game. Will all these changes translate to a winning 2007-2008 season? Get your tickets to Rexall Place and catch the revamped Edmonton Oilers in action to see if it all pays off!

The 1980s were the truly hot years for the Edmonton Oilers. But during the NHL's 2005-06 return, the Oilers put together a record of 41 wins, 28 regulation-time losses, and 13 overtime losses, for a total of 95 points, enough to squeeze into the eighth slot among the teams competing to represent the Western Conference in the final contest for the Stanley Cup.
In the years between 1984 and 1990, Edmonton went all the way to win that trophy five times times (1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1990). Could they pull off an upset and do it again? Buy your Oilers tickets and be there to cheer them on!
