The play is based on the events of the two novels Interview with the Vampire and The Vampire Lestat. The script for Lestat is by Linda Woolverton and the director is Robert Jess Roth. The vampire Lestat escapes his tyrannical family only to be killed and made a vampire. He enters the underworld and begins what becomes a constant battle between what he knows to be right and the bloodlust that drives him to do wrong.

Lestat features Carolee Carmello as Gabrielle, Allison Fischer as Claudia, Michael Genet as Marius, Roderick Hill as Armand, and Hugh Panaro as Lestat.
