Memphis - The Musical Tickets

This musical is loosely based on the life of Memphis disc jockey Dewey Phillips an innovative DJ who became one of the first white DJs to play black music in the 1950s. The musical surrounds this story and the struggles involving racism and segregation in the world during the 1950s as it is highlighted by powerful dialogue and plenty of music that is sure to have fans out of their seats and dancing in the aisles.

Shortly after premiering on the Broadway stage in 2009; Memphis went on to win four Tony Awards including the award for Best Musical. The story follows the dale of Huey Clahoun and opens up at an underground African American Rock and Roll bar in Memphis in the 1950s. As the story unfolds audiences follow Huey’s determination to show the world and his bosses that music is color blind and that traditionally African American rock music delivers a sound that all rock fans can love. 

As Huey begins to take on obstacle after obstacle as he attempts to show the city of Memphis that they need to embrace this type of music and the innovative rockers behind African American music; audiences are treated to powerful performances by this ensemble of actors who bring the time period and the moving tale to life. After its successful hit on Broadway; Memphis and its powerful tale announced that it would be hitting the road for its first national tour.
