Brooding California rockers AFI (A Fire Inside) have recorded 8 full-length albums, more than 11 EPs and countless hit singles throughout the 1990s and 2000s to become a cult figurehead in modern US rock music. Fusing the big, buzzing guitars and digital samples of contemporary metal with the choral singing and penetrating solos of hardcore California rock, AFI\'s sound has evolved from garage metal to iconic post-punk with an array of dark poetry and expressionist imagery. With upbeat punk rhythms, thumping drums and twisted, illustrative lyrics, AFI delivers an immaculate form of pop-metal for all rock music fans.
Vocalist Davey Havok and drummer Adam Carson formed AFI in 1991 with fellow Ukiah, California high school students and began playing local gigs. Several popular EPs including the eponymous split 7” Dork (recorded with Loose Change) gained AFI popular local following and a record contract with Nitro. A change in the original line-up occurred with the recruitment of Hunter Burgen and Jade Puget before the recording of 1999’s Black Sails in the Sunset, a record that established AFI’s bleak and intricate yet powerful oeuvre as part of the rock mainstream. Many popular records on various labels and much airplay later, AFI’s 2006 effort Decemberunderground stormed to the top of the Billboard charts.
AFI has remained at the cutting edge of punk rock for more than 15 years. The winners of MTV VMA Awards and popular among radio and TV audiences, they have achieved the media status of a pop music force rarely afforded to even the best regarded metal and hardcore outfits. Complete with a sworn fan following dubbed The Despair Faction, the emotional and shadowy world of AFI has lit up the stage for live concert audiences across the globe. Fans of incendiary rock music and metal aficionados everywhere can catch a great show with AFI tickets from Coast To Coast!
