The group first came into existence in 2003 with several members. The member group leads include O'Keeffe Joel who is the lead vocalist, Ryan the lead drummer and a brother to Joel and Roads David taking up the role of guitar rhythm. As the group continued to grow, Street Justin they joined them, taking up the role of the lead guitar and on the vocals. In the year 2007, the Airbourne hard rock group released their debut album titled Running wild. The album catapulted them to fame, topping at the peak at no 30 in the ARIA chart albums. The album also featured on the US and UK Billboard 200 and Chart album respectively. This made the group more famous.

After 3 years in 2010, the group released its second album titled 'no guts, no glory' in the month of March. It did extremely well on the ARIA charts at top 20, becoming top 40 in the United Kingdom and in the US billboard charts 200. The groups third album is scheduled for release in May 21, 2013 titled \'Black Dog Barking\'.  Airbourne band from Australia has won several awards. In 2008, they were named the best new band of the year 2008 during the Classic rock Magazine awards, which is an annual event. The group was also nominated for the Best Rock Group albums in the ARIAs. Though they never won, it emerged that the group was among the best when it comes to the hard rock music. One thing that sets them apart is their golden sounds that can be traced to several leading groups. The groups has performed in several key events like the famous Big day out in 2006, and in the famous venues of The Tote, Duke of Windsor, the Espy and the Metro.
