Cream was the quintessential 60's band. They influenced countless bands after them in the blues rock and hard rock genres. Cream's format is a brilliant mix of blues, pop and psychedelic rock. All three members would rate as virtuosos and their live concerts have always been hot ticket sellers. When they get back together, you do not want to miss it.
The members of Cream are Jack Bruce (bassist/vocals), Eric Clapton (guitars/vocals), and Ginger Baker (drummer). Eric Clapton became the most famous of the trio, going on to a spectacular solo career that reached into 2005 with his 14th album, Back Home. The trio was possibly the first rock group of established performers to unite as a 'supergroup' and then to qualify as superstars. Though their time together (1966 to 1968) was shockingly brief, Cream retains its status as one of the best bands of history.
Cream still sells records today to old and new fans. The most popular of their albums is Disraeli Gears, which strayed away from straight blues into psychedelia. The reckless style and fiery riffs of songs like 'Strange Brew' and 'Sunshine of Your Love' took Britain and America by storm. On the tour for this album the band became famous for jamming out their songs for minutes past their end and wowing fans with elaborate guitar solos.
The double album Wheels of Fire was even more successful for the band and proved they were in a league with Hendrix and the Beatles. If you are a fan from way back or a newcomer to the psychedelic/blues rock scene, you have to buy tickets to see Cream reunited for one more awe-inspiring tour.
