Kenny Babyface Edmonds History

Babyface is a jack of all musical trades and has been making R&B music since the early eighties. He was a great influence on the pop music of the nineties, bringing smooth soul and an old school R&B influence into contemporary urban music. It was not just his own music that made him such an important part of the business. Babyface's writing for other musicians associated him with the hottest names in popular music culture and garnered him the respect of the industry and fans. He wrote some of the biggest hits of the time for artists of various influences and genres. Babyface is coming in concert and you'll be needing tickets for this rare opportunity to see a virtuoso perform.

Born Kenneth Edmonds in Indianapolis 1959, Babyface began playing in music professionally at an early age. He was a shy teenager who wrote songs and poetry to vent his thoughts and emotions. He began playing funk music in R&B clubs with Bootsy Collins. It was Bootsy who gave Kenneth Edmonds the nickname Babyface. He played with various successful bands in the eighties like Manchild, and the Deele and had a few hits. Partnering with friend Antonio L.A. Reid, the two started their own label LaFace Records.

Edmonds' solo career blossomed from there with the number one single 'It's No Crime' and the number two hit 'Whip Appeal.' That solo effort, Tender Lover, went double platinum. Fame and recognition as a solo artist earned him the opportunity to begin writing for other musicians like Whitney Houston and Johnny Gill. Babyface was nominated for a Grammy for his production work on The Bodyguard soundtrack and he was greatly known for his work with Boyz II Men on the a pop hit that seemed to be locked in at number one forever, 'End of the Road.'

In his life, Babyface has become a proficient keyboardist, singer, songwriter, and producer of films and music. His LaFace label has hosted artists like Outkast, Usher, Tony Braxton, and TLC. He has worked on great movie soundtracks like Waiting to Exhale and produced the movie Soul Food. His music is his art, and he is on tour performing his solo material once again. It is important for fans of R&B and Pop music to see this fine musician's personal repertoire of music. Get your Babyface tickets here and enjoy listening to this great man perform for you in person.
