A lot of Canadian comedians have made their way to Saturday Night Live, and from there to the silver screen. Among them is Martin Short, who hails from Hamilton, Ontario and has developed a very successful career in film and on stage doing standup. Tickets to his shows always fly out the door quickly.
After his early days at SCTV, Martin Short was scheduled to be the inaugural host of Saturday Night Live in 1975, but he had to cancel, and Steve Martin got the job. That mishap didn't hurt Short's career, as he worked his way into films by 1986, when he appeared in ¡Three Amigos!
Martin Short also had noteworthy roles in Father of the Bride (1991) and Jungle 2 Jungle (1997). While his comedic movie roles have not gotten him the attention that has come to other such Canadian Saturday Night Live veterans as Mike Myers and Dan Aykroyd, Short has earned much respect for his comedic talents.
Short's live work is excellent entertainment, so if you have the opportunity to catch his standup show, you should get a ticket and sit back and laugh.
