Formed in 2007 as the 15th team of the MLS league the Seattle Sounders FC today is a highly popular soccer team that is based in Seattle Washington. Owned majorly by noted Hollywood producer Joe Roth and co owned by the likes of Drew Carey, a popular host of a game show and comedian, along with Paul Allen a co founder of the Microsoft Corporation and also owner of the Seattle Seahawks and Portland Trailblazers.The team management at Seattle Sounders FC comprises of two time MLS cup winning captain Sigi Schmid as the head coach along with Brian Schmetzer and Tom Dutra as assistant and goalkeeper coaches respectively. Veteran footballer and noted defender Ezra Hendrickson also strengthened the coaching team by joining as an assistant coach in January 2009. Chris Henderson, who is a former MLS league player and also a native from Everret Washington is the technical director of the Seattle Sounders FC while Gary Wright who is a well known face with Seattle Seahawks looks after the business operations. A rare quality of the Seattle Sounders FC players is their regular attendance for practice sessions which exhibits absolute professionalism. This attitude enabled them to make the MLS playoffs in their very first season and also helped them bag the award for the most Professional Sports team of the Year in 2009. Gary Wright, the senior vice president of business operations at Seattle Sounders FC was awarded the MLS Executive of 2009, and Seattle Sports Star executive of 2012.Since 2011 the Seattle Sounders FC team has been at the thick of many soccer events and have managed to finish their tournaments with great success. Winning the Lamar Hunt US Open cup three consecutive times in 2009, 2010 and 2011 they also managed to claim the runners up positions in 2012.
