Richard Bissell's 1953 novel 7½ Cents was the vision behind The Pajama Game. It is the story of the employees at the Sleeptite Pajama Factory who are fighting for a 7½-cent wage increase. Babe Williams is the gutsy employee representative who gets more than she bargained for when she decides to take the matter to Shop Superintendent Sid Sorkin.

The original production of The Pajama Game in 1955 won the Tony Award for Best Musical, Best Choreography (Bob Fosse) and Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Carol Haney). The 2006 musical promises to be an award winner with Harry Connick Jr. playing Sid Sorkin and Kathleen Marshall directing. With music by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross this show can not go wrong.

If you want to find out what happens when Sid tries to chase Babe, you'll have to buy tickets to The Pajama Game. But I will tell you that the more he tries, the feistier Babe gets. Songs like 'Hey There,' 'Once a Year Day,' and 'Steam Heat' make this factory the perfect romantic comedy. Will the workers have to strike to get just pay for their hard work, and can Babe dodge Sid's advances long enough to make her point?
