The Who History

Don't miss this chance to get tickets for one of the most powerful bands in the history of modern music: legendary rockers The Who! Founded in London in the early 1960s, the group consisted of four extraordinary performers: guitarist Pete Townshend, vocalist Roger Daltrey, bassist John Entwistle, and drummer Keith Moon. As part of the never-to-be-forgotten British Invasion, The Who rocketed to super-stardom with a string of top hits, including Talkin' 'bout my Generation, I Can See for Miles, and The Kids are Alright. They soon acquired a reputation for giving wildly intense live shows--but also for artistic experimentation that led them to stretch the envelope for rock in all kinds of new directions.

Nowhere was the creative genius behind this collaboration more evident than in The Who's masterpiece: the ground-breaking rock opera Tommy. One of the most innovative and successful attempts to blend traditional theater with pop music, this story of the deaf, dumb, and blind Pin-ball Wizard became an instant classic, and solidified The Who's position as one of the finest song-writing teams in the business.

Like so many of the other British groups in this Golden Age, The Who articulated the fear, the anger, the aspiration, and the passion of an entire generation. Tragically, the band has lost two of its members: Keith Moon in 1978, and John Entwistle in 2002. Though many fans miss them terribly, The Who's surviving members still rock! As recent concert-goers remarked, the excitement and the musicianship are great! That's what I personally look for in a live show. For the record, The Who blow away the Stones musically at this point.

Pete and Roger will dial up and crank in for one of the hottest concert-series on the circuit. Filling out the sound will be Oasis' Zak Starkey (he's Ringo Starr's kid) on drums, Simon Townshend on guitar, John Bundrick on keyboards, and Pino Palladino on bass. In the words of one ticket-holder, You want to hear The Who's songs delivered the way they're supposed to be? You can't get any closer than this!
