Trey Anastasio is a composer, guitar player and singer. He is best known for his work with the jam band Phish. Trey is accustomed to playing for thousands of dancing fans in giant arenas and open air stadiums. His solo work is as impressive as his earlier music, and tickets to see him perform live are selling out in every city.
He was born Ernest Guiseppe Anastasio III in 1964 and began writing music in high school and met the other members of Phish there and in college. Phish became wildly popular and sold out tickets to their shows again and again. Fans would travel with them, attending shows in different cities along the tour route just to experience the unique live elements and set lists that were the primary draw of their concerts.
After his time with Phish, Trey departed from their improv style moving into exploratory jazz with his first solo album, Surrender to the Air. His self-titled record of 2002 was more experimental rock and got him back out on tour for a few dates in the U.S. Trey's live effort, Plasma, came out later featuring works from his solo tour. Later in 2004 Trey released an instrumental record called Seis De Mayo.
The one thing that has never changed about Trey's work after Phish was that it is even better live than on the CD. It is not that the recordings aren't amazing, but when you hear songs like 'Alive Again,' 'Night Speaks to a Woman' and 'Plasma' performed on stage, you really feel the emotion of the music and get to experience the little nuances and added bits that experimental rock music is famous for. Buy your tickets to see Trey Anastasio in concert and wear your dancing shoes because his music will move your body.
